Buying guides / THE HOUSE OF HOUND

Finding your everyday lead.

Compare the details that affect how a lead feels in your hand.

Compare actual dimensions.

Look for the finished length, width or diameter, and any stated weight. A product name such as short or long is less useful than a measurement. Think about the places you usually walk and the manufacturer’s intended use.

Look closely at the clip.

Check the fastening type and its compatibility with your collar or harness. Images should show the attachment clearly. Do not assume that a decorative or lightweight fitting is suitable for every dog.

Handle and material matter.

Compare the handle shape, padding if present, and fibre or leather specification. Ask how to clean and dry that exact item. Follow its instructions rather than applying the same treatment to every material.

Build a useful set.

A coordinated collar, lead and harness can make shopping simpler, but each item still needs its own size and compatibility check. Buy the pieces you need, and inspect them regularly for wear.
